Rev. John Beckham Alford Jr., 87, of New Bern, NC—pastor, lifelong tinkerer, and classic car enthusiast—died July 26, 2025. Born in Norfolk, VA, he worked in the defense industry before answering a call to ministry in 1979. He led congregations in North Carolina and Virginia, served as a missions director, and headed the Coastal Carolina A’s classic car club. His Model A Ford was a local parade favorite.
